Name Calling

Taylor was so excited to go to school today to show all her friends her new outfit and was in such a good mood. When I went to pick her up this afternoon, she was crying. Apparently, a couple of the kids were "calling her names". Come to find out, they were rhyming her name, not calling her names. They were saying, "Taylor, Baylor". Now, who knows, for a 4 year old, this can actually be a name with a negative meaning--Taylor sure thought so. I got my first dose of kids being cruel and hurting her feelings. I know it will get much worse, but it sure isn't fun.

There's No Place Like Home

Taylor and I went on a little shopping spree last night. She received some new clothes in the mail, and a couple things were not quite right, so we went to the store to see if she could find something to replace it, and she picked this outfit out all by herself...

I keep waiting for her to click her heels together and say, "There's no place like home" and call for Toto as she skips away! These shoes are stinkin' funny--but cute at the same time! Sooooo girlie! Taylor can't decide whether she wants to be a tomboy or a girlie-girl. I must say, though, I was pretty proud of her for the outfit she picked out (despite the picture of horses across her chest). She actually picked out a matching outfit this time--usually it's something like a red skirt with tiny white flowers and a hot pink tank top with a huge flower on her chest as she's saying, "Look Mommy, the flowers down her have green leaves and the flower on my shirt has a green stem...THEY MATCH!!!" Never mind that the pink clashes with the red, and it's like 40 degrees now in the morning before school! If she had her way, she would wear tank tops and flip flops year round. Can't say I blame her there though.

Anyway, she was so happy to put this outfit on today, that she had to model for Daddy 3 times before he left. I have never seen her get dressed so fast! Oh yeah, her bangs are finally growing too--I can pull them back into the ponytail now!
